I forgot to upload my
design after I checked out, what do I do?
No problem. Just go to our <upload
page> and upload your files. Be sure to supply the
requested information so we know who the files are coming
from.
What type of artwork do you accept? Our preferred formats
for artwork are dependent on the particular product you are
buying. In general, vector artwork (Illustrator AI or
EPS) is preferred for multi color (not full color) printing.
Full color printing (all UV and Digital printing) can also
use raster based images such as TIFF, JPG or PSD files.
ALL raster image files must be a MINIMUM of 72 dpi at full
size. For example, if you are ordering door hangers (4
1/4 x 11), your image file must be 72 dpi at 4 1/4 x 11.
Our preference would be 300 dpi at size. The larger
the piece, the larger the file.
I used Microsoft Publisher to
create my door hanger, is that ok?While we
certainly prefer to use professional design tools to create
your piece, we understand that the price of these programs
is very cost prohibitive. The upgrades alone cost more
than most of the more widely available software out there!
We do accept designs done in just about any of the software
packages available. Please inquire if your file is
acceptable. The two most common file types are MS Word
and MS Publisher. We've even received business cards
designed in MS Excel. Hey, if it's all you know, go
for it. Files formats other than the above listed
formats may incur an additional charge to convert.
What if I don't have the ability to provide a design?
We are more than happy to
provide design services for you. Simply email us your
design ideas and one of our designers will contact you to
further discuss your needs. Our current design rates
are $60/hr for Graphic Design services and $100/hr for
Creative Design. Stock Photos and Clipart Images start
at $10 per image.
What's the different between UV and Digital Printing?
UV Printing is Full Color (CMYK) Offset Printing, coated with a
special UV Coating. The UV Coating is very glossy and
appears almost like it's laminated. One important note
about UV Coating is that it cannot easily be written on.
Digital Printing is Full Color (CMYK) Printing using a
digital press. It utilizes the latest in digital
printing technology. This is not to be confused or
compared to color copying. Digital Printing is not as
color accurate as offset printing, but is remarkably accurate.
Digital Printing is best suited for short run, quick
turnaround jobs.
What is CMYK?
CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow & Black - the four
colors used to generate the color spectrum used in full
color printing. These are the same four colors used in
your inkjet printer.
Why shouldn't I design my
file in RGB mode?
The Red, Green, Blue color spectrum is best suited for
devices using a light source such as your monitor,
television or scanner. The use of RGB in your design
file will yield unpredictable results at best. Files submitted in this mode
may be delayed and may incur additional charges to convert or to
provide a physical proof to verify color accuracy.
There are many RGB colors that do not convert to CMYK.
Why should I use Polaris Press over my local printer or
another internet provider?
Polaris Press combines service with quality printed
products. We offer a broad variety of printing
services with the utmost of convenience - right from your
desktop. We're local printers ourselves with a store
front location, so we know
what it takes to care for a customer as if we see them week
in and week out. We carry that service over to our
eCommerce services as well.
How long should I expect my printing to take?
Delivery times are dependent
on the item you ordered and the shipping method you chose.
Some items include an approximate production time.
Keep this in mind when choosing your shipping option.
Production times are only an estimate and any delay in
production should be communicated to you either by phone or
email. You should receive an email indicating that
your item(s) have shipped.
Why does the PayPal payment
detail show the "Total w/o shipping"?
Your invoice detail is not
transmitted to PayPal. Only the total is transmitted.
Rest assured though, your total includes the shipping option
you chose. What does
"Multiple Designs" mean for digitally printed products?
One of the great benefits of digital printing is
flexibility. We extend that flexibility to you to
allow you to provide multiple designs and benefit from
volume pricing on most digitally printed products.
Here's how it works: Say you want two different door
hangers - one for residential customers and one for
commercial customers. With digitally printed door
hangers, you can order 2500 of each and use the 5000
quantity price - a savings of over $300. Products
eligible for multiple designs should have the option
available and the quantity of designs available.
I didn't set up an account
for my last order but I'd like to reorder. Do you
still have my design?
Yes, we should. We typically archive all designs
for future reorders. Select one of the reorder options
under the design menu for whichever item you are ordering.
We should be able to pull your artwork. Under
Additional Information on the checkout screen, please note
your previous order number if possible. |
